Places I’ve Done My Thing
Well, HELLO!
Lindsey Murphy here.
Creator + host of The Fab Lab With Crazy Aunt Lindsey. Co-host of TedxPortland. Gemini. Jersey Girl. Friend to as many as possible.
I was born in Fortune 500 corporate media and raised in Inc. 500 business culture. I started my career at MTV Networks where I helped build Video On Demand into viability well before Netflix (and Hulu and Amazon Prime) were even thoughts. I sprinted thru several roles in business development, digital marketing and strategy, and, later, talent at several (still) successful startups in New York and wound up at Nike and Wieden+Kennedy (sparkles. swoon. dreams really do come true) all while secretly producing a kids science show on YouTube. More on that later.
I’ve done a lot of other things with my life including 1. start two fairly successful businesses and 2. move clear across the US to a city I’d almost never heard of with exactly $.47 in my bank account, no job, and knowing no one except the old friend from high school whom I’d spoken to maybe twice in the 10 years since we last saw each other whose couch I was able to crash on for my first three days. Best moves I ever made.
My show + business have won a bunch of awards, I’ve raised nearly $100,000 via crowdfunding in the last few years, and have been invited to give talks on things like courage, finding YOUR purpose, and creative media in science communications at places like Harvard, Google, and Creative Mornings. I even cast a vision of the world I know exists at World Domination Summit in front of thousands of people. SPOILER: That world is whole, healed, and full of love.
If you’re looking for more of a resume/official bio type of thing, you can check out my LinkedIn page or Media Kit for specifics. Below, you will find some photos + videos of my recent work. And if you’d like to work together, GREAT! Keep reading or go here to get the ball rolling.
WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU
Keynotes + Workshops + Panels
Giving talks are my jam and I love diving deeper by facilitating workshops to help people learn practical applications in becoming more confident and equipped marketers, communicators, and people. Some of the topics I have delivered keynotes on include: Courage, Finding Purpose, Communicating Diversity Through Media, Identifying An Audience, Raising Money, and Creative Media In Science Communications. My workshops are aimed at science communicators, startup entrepreneurs, and agency personnel selling in business. My heart is also bent toward helping young people find their way toward a life well lived regardless of circumstances. Inquire here.
Public Speaking Training
If you’re giving a presentation, talk, or pitching your business and need help knocking it out of the park, I’ve won several notable pitching competitions, am a part of the TEDx fold as a recurring presenter, make tons of TV appearances, and…well, let’s just say I think I can support you. My approach is super not dry, personalized with staunch focused on bringing out your personal style, and 1:1 trainings are well suited for just about anyone but especially science communicators and entrepreneurs pitching their business to investors and/or aiming to win pitch competitions. I currently have three slots remaining for 2019 for this kind of work and invite you to inquire here.
Consulting
If you’re feeling stuck developing a product, presentation, brand, marketing plan, or business model, my brainstorming skills come backed with more than 15 years in marketing and business development at advertising agencies like Deutsch, Wieden+Kennedy, and House of Kaizen. I’ve also crowdfunded more than $100,000 for my YouTube show + mission and am happy to share my knowledge in a broad range of expertise, ideas, and to do’s with you. Inquire here.
Talent
From conducting interviews to hosting tv and online show to voiceover work and even hand-modeling (yes, I may come out of retirement for you), I limited availability throughout this year for external opportunities but I’m always open to considering cool projects. Inquire here.
MC Events
If you are throwing a fabulous event - nonprofit gala, awards show, that kind of thing - for a cause I can get behind, I am happy to get dressed up and rock out at your event. I am available for three events like this per year. Inquire here.
OTHER THINGS NOT LISTED
I owe so much of best things in my life to random opportunities I never thought were in the realm of possibility so I am always open to considering things that may not be listed here. Hit me up and let me know what you’ve got going on!

SCHOOL VISITS
I am deeply passionate about the next generation and always happy to support their education as a mentor, even if just for a day. BLOG + NEWSLETTER
Believe it or not, I think more than I talk (and I talk a LOT). This is the space somewhere in between. My blog is a bit of whatever’s on my mind. Usually that’s marketing and advertising, building my business, how to have a more productive day and life, things of the Spirit, and the lessons I’ve learned from the successes and failures all my own. I also share bits from some of the pretty amazing people I get to call friends and mentors as well as the experts and resources that have helped me along my way. And I leave them here for anyone they may help on their journey toward joy, love, success, and growth (the things I wish for you the way I wish them for myself). Check it out.
Lastly, I send out two newsletters about 1-3 times per quarter each. One is geared toward the college age/young professionals I often meet looking for mentorship and advice as they navigate starting their career, a business, “networking,” and all the other what/how-do-I-do’s that can come along with that life stage. The other is for anyone interested in keeping up with ideas + trends in media, marketing, entrepreneurship and business ownership, culture (a little bit), and getting to know some of the up-and-comers and who’s who I’m admiring up close or from afar. You can sign up for either (or both!) here.
“I see life like a party I did not throw but one I am somehow the host of. And, when I die, I imagine meeting God, whom I find out was bankrolling the whole thing, and Him asking not how much it cost or what I decided to wear or whether the china and linens matched. But: “Did you have fun? And how did you treat my guests?”
